Statement of intent

The idea for my 3 minute music video is that I will be showing the relationship between the artist and her friends and family as well as her life. 

Music magazine:

-Original magazine name: ctrl+ALT, ALT standing for 'alternative' which is the genre of my song

-Original photography

-Cover photo

-Should promote artists tour and music

My magazine will also need to include the footwear brand possibly in the cover photo as well as an interview with the artist about her tour. 

Music video:

-Song title: Ribs- Lorde

-Original artist name: Saturn, no story behind the name

-Genre: Alternative pop/indie pop

-3 minutes long

Concept:

-The main concept is for the artist, Saturn, to show the relationship between friends and family and all the memories that have been collected over the years. This way, it becomes more of a 'real' music video with real memories instead of it just being done in front of a camera. I am going to try and do this by adding videos I have on my phone of my friends and family and all the fun moments into my music video. Not only does it show relationships the artist has but it also basically shows her life on 'film'.. My music video won't have any clear narrative and will mostly be concept and performance based. My music video must include a footwear brand and the one I decided to include is Nike. My music video will also need to be shot in multiple locations with a range of different costumes, lighting and shots.

Media language:

-Locations:

• A dimly lit bedroom with low key lighting such as a candle
• City at night, maybe London during Christmas with all the lights
• A flowery field

-Shots, a few of them will include:

• Wide shots of friends walking having fun
• Close ups of artist
• Tracking shots with city background

-Clamps:

• Costume:  At least 3 different costumes. Creates variety rather than having just one
• Lighting:  Low-key lighting for indoor shots, high-key for any outdoor shots
• Actors: I will include friends as well as including family
• Makeup: Natural makeup, not too bright
• Props:  Hats, pen and paper, phones, candle, headphones
• Setting:  Flowery field, city, dimly lit bedroom

I will include theories such as Todorov's equilibrium theory. The disequilibrium is the artist alone by herself and the new equilibrium is the artist with all of her friends having fun. I also am going to include Blumler and Katz uses and gratifications theory specifically diversion as my music video will mostly be watched for entertainment. 

Representations: 

Van Zoonen says that women are usually seen as a 'spectacle' in media texts and I feel like my music video challenges this as it will not be sexualising anyone in it. I am going to represent all of actors as young teenagers who are 'full of life' looking to have fun with one another.  My actors will also be from many different backgrounds which could possible subvert any stereotypes of race. 

Industries and digital convergence:

My music video will most likely be streamed on you tube. My magazine will have a both online and physical copy. By having both, it gives the audience a choice on which one they would prefer to read. My artists record label is going to be Universal Music Group (UMG).
