Media awards: productions

Write detailed reviews on your coursework blog about your two favourite productions explaining why you think they’re effective.

For Media Language, make sure you think about...

-cinematography/camerawork: composition, framing, BCU, CU, MS, LS, pan, tilt, tracking shot, zoom

-mise-en-scene: clothing, props, gestures, facial expressions, sets, setting (CLAMPS)

-lighting: key light, back light, filler light; underlighting, top lighting, back lighting; low-key/high-key lighting

-sound: diegetic/non-diegetic; on/off screen, sound bridge; parallel/contrapuntal sound, voiceover narration

-editing: continuity editing, jump cut, dissolve, wipe, fade in/out, cross-cutting, paralleling, cutaways, montage, suturing (shot/reverse shot)

The lurking crow:

-Cinematography: Good use of different camera shots when the two girls are walking into their house. There was also good shots when one of the girls went to get water as it showed multiple different angles.

-Mise-en-scene: Casual clothing, just a normal day out, natural makeup not too bright, home setting, good facial expressions, matched scene.

-Lighting: High-key lighting and natural lighting used throughout the video.

-Sound: Use of voices in video, parallel sound, matched scene. Clear voices.

 -Editing: Good use of clips, jump cuts, shot-reverse-shot.

Like a paladin: 

-Cinematography: Good use of close ups, facial expressions, wide shots of running, tracking shots also while running, close ups of shoes too. 

-Mise-en-scene: Casual clothing, use of props, the bag, good forest setting.

-Lighting: Natural lighting, high-key lighting since it is shot outside. 

-Sound: Sound bridge with music, on screen voices. 

-Editing; Jump cuts, fast paced editing matches the storyline of what's going on.
