Cinematography blog task

1) Write an analysis of the cinematography in the opening sequence. Highlight your use of media language and try to cover camera shots, angles and movement using the terminology we have learned in lessons.

This is the story time scene from Deadly Class. It starts with a tilt showing the top of the staircase and moving down to see the main character. It then proceeds to a close up of the teacher and then an over-the-shoulder shot. When they go up the stairs, it is a high angle shot and proceeds to be a medium angle shot. There is a pan from the main character to the door as it opens and another high angle shot but this time, form the back. As the door to his room opens, it is a long shot.

2) How does the camerawork give the audience clues about the setting, narrative and character?

It shows that the setting is a school because some people are in uniform and there are dorm rooms as well. It also shows who the main character is and who the possible antagonist is.

Secondly, find and analyse one film or TV still image. Add the image to your blogpost.

3) Analyse the camera shot/angle in the image and what it communicates to the audience. Remember to highlight the media terminology you use.

This is a still image from Deadly Class again. The two in the image seem really worried and one of them looks injured. It could possible tell us that there is a threat or an antagonist off camera. It looks like a medium shot.
